The Process project was in May 2025 at the old tram depot in the Amiraalistonkatu warehouse in Turku. Process was part of the cultural transitional spaces initiative and was carried out in collaboration with the City of Turku’s Cultural Promotion department. The project allowed ten artists to work creatively throughout the process, and a gallery exhibition was built in the same space, culminating to a “finale” event at the end of the project. The artists involved in the project were Markku Haanpää, Selma Aurora Haro, Toni Hautamäki, Mari Kämäräinen with her partner Hannu Seppälä, Erkki Nampajärvi, Aino Ojala, Jarkko Rantanen, Sini Talonen, and Juha Welling. My main goal was to sew a tent canvas out of painting clothes that I use during my normal workdays at the studio to make a cloak to a tent I had in the attic. The materials I worked with were all recycled or in active use. During the process I started to call the tent a 'Shelter from the Storm' after a Bob Dylan -song.
The project idea originated from Markku Haanpää (in the picture on top of a chair), who invited the first artist, and that artist then invited another, and so on. This method allowed for the formation of a diverse group of artists without anyone having to take on the role of curator, creating a collective that was not solely chosen by one person. The picture is from the 'finale'.

Shelter from the Storm
